After graduating from the University of Alberta in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts in Canadian History, Phil obtained his Bachelor of Laws from the same institution in 1978. The following year, in 1979, Phil was called to the Alberta Bar. In 2002, he was called to the Northwest Territories Bar.
In May of 2012, Phil joined Rackel Belzil LLP. He practices a broad range of areas of law, maintaining a general practice with an emphasis on corporate and commercial law, real estate and conveyancing, and wills and estates.
On April 1, 2020 Phil retired from the practice of law to spend more time with his wife, four children, and two grand-children as well as enjoying additional time hunting and fishing.
