Louis represents clients in a variety of business related legal matters. An entrepreneur in his own right, Louis has strong practical problem-solving skills. He works well within corporate and commercial environments where legal strategy must be balanced with business needs.
As an arbitrator and mediator, he has built on the knowledge and experience of over 30 years of litigation practice. Litigants who opt for alternative dispute resolution benefit from his keen focus and quick identification of issues.
Louis also acts as general counsel to a mid-size oilfield services company, as well as other services companies, and in this role has been called upon to address complex issues in intellectual property, international business and overall strategy in the current challenging environment.
He is a former chair of the Canadian Bar Association Construction Law section, and has delivered talks and written articles on numerous occasions. He is a member of the Alberta Arbitration and Mediation Society and Canadian Institute for the Administration of Justice.
On January 1, 2012, Louis was honoured to receive the designation of Queen's Counsel from the Province of Alberta. Louis enjoys spending time with his family, being active, and pursuing a number of hobbies and technical interests. Louis is a licensed private pilot with an instrument rating.
